This wiki has the ParserFunctions extension installed, which adds a number of additional parser functions to those that MediaWiki provides by default (see documentation).
The additional parser functions include those dealing with logical expressions and comparisons, time and title handling, and (if enabled) additional string utilities. These can be combined with each other (and with other parser functions from both core and other extensions).
For example, each line in the table below uses a line similar to {{#ifeq: {{#time:l}} | Sunday | Yes | No }} (replacing "Sunday" for each day of the week) to create a table identifying the current day:
