This wiki has the SecureLinkFixer extension installed, meaning that for external links to sites that want to require using HTTPS for connections (preventing users from opting to use HTTP, which is not secure), external links to such sites will automatically have HTTP protocols replaced with HTTPS as part of MediaWiki's parsing.
MediaWiki.org is one such site that requires HTTPS. For example, below there is a link http://mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki. It even is displayed with HTTP. But, if you inspect it using browser tools or hover over it, the actual target of the link uses HTTPS!
